Coconut seedlings are sprouted nuts ready to transplant. Choose a sunny, well-drained site. Coconuts take 5–7 years to fruit but are worth the wait. Dwarf varieties fruit earlier and stay shorter.

Care Tips

  • Sunlight: Full sun (6+ hours). Coconuts need maximum light. No shade tolerance when young.
  • Watering: Regular when establishing. Mature palms tolerate drought but produce better with consistent moisture. Salt tolerance—can grow near coast.
  • Soil: Sandy, well-draining. pH 5.5–8.0. Coconuts prefer sandy soil. Avoid heavy clay or waterlogging.
  • Fertilizing: Palms need potassium and magnesium. Use palm-specific fertilizer 2–3 times per year. Boron important for nut development.
  • Pruning: Remove only dead fronds. Never remove green fronds—reduces nut production.
