Care Tips
- Sunlight: Full sun (6+ hours). Thyme needs plenty of light. Tolerates Jamaica's sun well.
- Watering: Light to moderate. Allow soil to dry between waterings. Thyme prefers slightly dry conditions—overwatering causes rot.
- Soil: Well-draining, sandy or gritty soil. pH 6.0–8.0. Add sand or perlite for drainage. Avoid heavy clay.
- Fertilizing: Minimal feeding. Top-dress with compost once a year. Too much fertilizer reduces flavour.
- Pruning: Trim after flowering to keep compact. Harvest by cutting stems, not pulling. Replace woody plants every 3–4 years.
Jamaica Climate
Well-suited to Jamaica's climate. Ensure excellent drainage in rainy season. Container growing avoids root rot. Harvest before midday for best flavour.
