Care Tips

  • Sunlight: Full sun (6+ hours). Guava thrives in bright light. Tolerates light shade but fruits less.
  • Watering: Moderate. Drought-tolerant when established. Water during flowering and fruit development for best yield.
  • Soil: Well-draining, adaptable. pH 5.0–7.0. Tolerates poor soil. Add compost for better production.
  • Fertilizing: Moderate feeder. 3–4 applications per year. Balanced fertilizer. Increase potassium when fruiting.
  • Pruning: Prune after harvest to shape and remove dead wood. Can be kept 10–15 feet. Tolerates hard pruning.

Jamaica Climate

Excellent for Jamaica. Fruits year-round with peaks. Watch for fruit flies—bag fruit or use traps. Guava moth can be an issue; remove fallen fruit. Great for juice and jelly.
