Massive tropical jackfruit tree—the largest tree-borne fruit. Sweet when ripe, versatile when young (vegan "pulled pork").

Jackfruit can grow 50+ feet. Dwarf varieties exist for smaller spaces. Fruit takes 3–4 months to mature and can weigh 10–50 lbs. Young fruit is used as a meat substitute; ripe fruit is dessert.

Care Tips

Sunlight: Full sun (6+ hours). Jackfruit needs strong light. Space 20–30 feet from other trees—it gets large.
Watering: Regular when young. Mature trees tolerate dry periods but need water during fruit development. Consistent moisture improves fruit size.
Soil: Rich, well-draining, deep soil. pH 5.0–7.0. Add organic matter. Tolerates various soils if drained.
Fertilizing: Heavy feeder. Young trees: 4–6 applications per year. Fruiting trees: fertilize after harvest, before flowering, and during fruit swell.
Pruning: Prune to control size and shape. Remove lower branches for access. Thin fruit if overloaded—improves size. Prune after harvest.
