Mulberry is one of the fastest fruit trees to bear. Berries ripen over several weeks—harvest daily. Tree can be kept pruned to 10–15 feet or allowed to grow larger. Self-pollinating.

Care Tips

  • Sunlight: Full sun (6+ hours). Mulberry thrives in bright light. Tolerates partial shade.
  • Watering: Moderate. Drought-tolerant when established. Water during fruit development for plumper berries.
  • Soil: Adaptable—tolerates various soils. pH 5.5–7.0. Prefers well-draining. Add compost for better yield.
  • Fertilizing: Light to moderate. 2–3 applications per year. Balanced fertilizer. Not heavy feeder.
  • Pruning: Prune in dormancy (if applicable) or after harvest. Mulberry grows fast—prune to control size. Can be heavily pruned.

Jamaica Climate

Grows quickly in Jamaica. May not go fully dormant. Berries stain—plant away from patios. Birds love them—net if you want harvest. Fruits spring into summer.
