Rosemary

Care Tips

  • Sunlight: Full sun (6+ hours). Rosemary needs bright light. Tolerates Jamaica's sun well once established.
  • Watering: Moderate watering. Allow soil to dry between waterings. Overwatering causes root rot—when in doubt, water less.
  • Soil: Well-draining, slightly alkaline (pH 6.0–7.0). Sandy or gritty mix ideal. Add lime if soil is acidic.
  • Fertilizing: Light feeder. Apply balanced fertilizer 2–3 times per year. Avoid high nitrogen—reduces fragrance.
  • Pruning: Trim after flowering to maintain shape. Harvest stems rather than individual leaves. Avoid cutting into old wood.

Jamaica Climate

Loves Jamaica's warmth but needs good drainage—especially in rainy season. Raised beds or containers work well. Protect from waterlogged soil.
