Scallion
1,000 JMD
Quick-growing green onions for salads, soups, stir-fries, and Jamaican dishes. Harvest in weeks, not months.
Scallions (green onions) are one of the fastest crops you can grow. You can even regrow from store-bought roots in water, then transplant. Continuous harvest by cutting leaves and leaving the base.

Care Tips
- Sunlight: Full sun to partial shade (4–6 hours). In Jamaica's heat, afternoon shade can prevent bolting.
- Watering: Keep consistently moist. Scallions need regular water for tender growth. Mulch to retain moisture.
- Soil: Rich, well-draining soil. pH 6.0–7.0. Add compost. Loose soil allows bulbs to swell.
- Fertilizing: Moderate feeder. Apply nitrogen-rich fertilizer every 2–3 weeks for lush green growth.
- Pruning: Harvest when tops are 6–8 inches. Cut 1–2 inches above soil—plant may regrow. Or pull entire plant.
Jamaica Climate
Grows year-round in Jamaica. Plant in succession every 2–3 weeks for continuous supply. Great for Jamaican breakfast dishes and soups.
