Starter tomato plants for backyard harvest. Choose from cherry, roma, or beefsteak—fresh flavour you can't buy.

Tomatoes need consistent watering and full sun. Stake or cage early to support heavy fruit. In Jamaica, they produce well in cooler months and can struggle in peak summer heat—partial afternoon shade helps.

Care Tips

  • Sunlight: Full sun (6–8 hours). Tomatoes need maximum light for fruiting. In Jamaica's intense summer, morning sun with afternoon shade can prevent blossom drop.
  • Watering: Regular, consistent watering. 1–2 inches per week. Avoid fluctuations—causes blossom end rot and cracking. Water at base, not leaves.
  • Soil: Rich, well-draining, slightly acidic (pH 6.0–6.8). Add compost and organic matter. Deep soil for strong roots.
  • Fertilizing: Heavy feeder. Start with balanced fertilizer; switch to higher phosphorus (bloom booster) when flowering. Feed every 2 weeks.
  • Pruning: Remove suckers on indeterminate varieties for larger fruit. Stake or cage early. Remove lower leaves as plant grows to improve air flow.

Jamaica Climate

Plant in cooler months (Nov–Feb) for best results. Watch for whiteflies and aphids—common in Jamaica. Consistent moisture prevents blossom end rot. Mulch to keep roots cool.
